Four reasons to miss work on Aug. 24

1. You’re on your way to work, your car dies. It’s an alternator, fuel pump or any number of basic things. You gotta get a tow to a mechanics, diagnose the problem and wait to get it fixed or get a ride back home.
Cost: $1,000 and a wasted day
2. A beloved friend or family member passes away on Wednesday, funeral is Friday evening. Last minute flight for Thursday night, rental car, hotel…
Cost: $1,000 and a sacrificed day
3. You’re presented with an opportunity from a product or service you really need or desire, or from a debtor…where a $10,000 purchase or debt is offered to you at 90% off on Aug. 24 only, and you must take the day to come take advantage of it in person.
Cost: $1,000 and well worth the day
Before we get to #4, the point here is for most of us, if the necessity is high enough, we’ll find a grand (even if it hurts and we have to sacrifice something else) and get out of work for a day.
Why do we seldom, if ever…take the time and money to do something proactive which will alter our lives for the better? Radically change our circumstances. Start us on a new trajectory away from what has no hope in our lives, toward what is right and true and best and eternal and valiant and life-worthy?
It’s the difference between who reads and who gets read about. Who watches and who gets watched. Who is anonymous and who is known. Who influences no one, and who matters in other’s lives. Who is on the deathbed with regrets and few who care, and who gets an outpouring of peace and love from all those who were impacted by the magnitude of a life lived with purpose, abundance, investment and joy.
4. Fly to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, spend 3 days and 2 nights at a truly awe inspiring lodge on a couple hundred acres with 7 life-changing Guides and a small group of peers, working together on YOUR purpose and applying it to your work and life. It’s so easy to think of reasons you can’t do it. I challenge you to do what all those you admire and revere and desire to emulate finally did: Spend a moment thinking about how you COULD do it.
