Idea Discovery & Application Workshop
JOIN US March 25-27, 2011…at 8,000′ up in the glories of the Rocky Mountains to hone in on the best idea for your free agent calling.
As always, we’ll be at beautiful Camp Elim in Woodland Park, CO, location of Free Agent Academy HQ and just 15 gorgeous miles up the pass from Colorado Springs.
This event is dedicated to those who do not have clarity on their idea or how it fits them.
If you are new to FAA…every quarter, we gather together for non-stop, intense and mind altering time together face to face. A group of free agents (in this case, aspiring) and key leaders and facilitators. The point? You leave with realistic, definable steps to make real world progress in your free agent calling. It’s fully proven. The folks who attend these events succeed in their free agent endeavors on a dramatically faster timeline and at an ultimately greater level of success…than our members who do not. To get a good flavor of what an FAA event is like, here is a quick video from a recent “Intensive”. You may recognize some people…like presenters Chuck Bowen (Bowen Coaching), Dan Miller (48 Days), Jon Dale (Dale Interactive) and also Dave Munson (Saddleback Leather Co. “El Presidente”):
For some great video TESTIMONIALS from attendees, scroll to the very bottom of this page!
YOUR EVENT FOCUS
This event is specifically for those who do not yet know their BEST IDEA or how to evaluate their ideas for validity. So to qualify, one of these must define where you are currently:
- I know I want to be a free agent but I really don’t know what I care about or would be well suited to offer as a viable product or service.
- I have an idea, but it’s really raw, and I don’t really know how it would best make sense as a business idea, or if it really will.
- I have a LOT of ideas I like, but don’t know which one is best, which one is most viable, which would I really want to sink my teeth into.
This event is about IDEA DISCOVERY. If you KNOW what idea you want to pursue…or are already generating revenue, this event is NOT for you.
Now I’m skipping the big sales pitch on being a free agent…aka…self-employed. And if you are self-employed but seeking more clarity on what you really want to be doing, this is very much a valid camp for you, too. But assuming most of you are currently NOT self-employed, I expect that you have already gotten bitten by the opportunity to:
- Live out your calling
- Be in control (and ultimately responsible) for your life
- Wrap your work around your life, not the other way around
- Stop working your days away at something you don’t care about
- Fire that boss and those managers you work to please and, instead, work at something that matters and makes sense
- Quit making your family and friends second to your job. You have every billboard and landmark on your commute to your j-o-b memorized, but don’t know what’s going on in the details of your family’s and friends’ lives.
If you are NOT yet sold on the dire necessity and your responsibility to be self-employed…then this event will take the blinders off your eyes.
YOU need to discover your best idea. You aren’t alone, at all. There is much talk about finding “work you love” (48 Days To The Work You Love) and “cashing in on your passions” (Crush It) that leaves a large part of the population…nowhere. To pursue something you love and are passionate about, you have to be very clear on what IT is.
My experience over the past six years of leading folks to free agency is that, left to yourselves (me, too!)…you’ll find yourself right where you are now…in another six years. Or you can get with some experts and hone in on it…in about two days (plus some time you’ll need for “pre-work” prior to the event).
YOUR EVENT LOCATION
There is a reason this isn’t being held in a sterile hotel conference room in a big city airport hub. It takes more effort to join us up in the Rocky Mountains, just as there is more effort initially to become a free agent. But with both, there is a much greater pay off at play. Remember it is the “hills that are alive with music,” not the gridlock. We intentionally chose a place that will awaken your soul and remove you from the “real world”, the world that you’ll come to realize…while being very real…is very irrelevant.
Camp Elim is a camp and lodge just 7-miles outside of Woodland Park, CO…and sits at 8,000’ above sea level. It’s pure mountain style…natural wood and fireplaces and rustic beauty. Crisp air and blue skies and in March…could be t-shirt weather or a blizzard. Either way, it will take your breath away and invigorate your spirit.

YOUR EVENT PRESENTERS
In this event, we’ve gathered four top talents for helping people DISCOVER themselves.
Jonathan Pool – Your Event Lead Guide
Jonathan is one of those overcoming stories you read about in Reader’s Digest. He’s traveled from a debilitating chronic illness that left him flat on his back for years, to launching his own business doing corporate strategic planning. Today he specializes in exactly what this event is about…helping people discover what they are “innately good at” and passionate about. He revels in taking people who are numb to their cares and passions and waking them up to what’s inside. His chosen tactic is using his personal love, Adventure. Our September 09 event found him hopping on one wheel over Saddleback Leather Co. founder Dave Munson.
Chuck left the corporate start up world where he served as a high paid, hired gun in the telecom industry. He made lots of money doing things he…didn’t care much about. So he audited some top coaches and started his own coaching practice in San Antonio, TX. Chuck Bowen Coaching grew to be one of the most prolific finance, career and business coaching businesses in the country. He served as head coach trainer to Dave Ramsey’s financial coaches and Dan Miller’s career coaches. Chuck is flat-out the most competent business coach I’ve ever experienced, bar none – which is why he leads FAA with me and serves as my personal business coach as well.
Deb comes from a high profile New York fashion eyewear company. The American dream. Fancy job, big pay, New York…what more could you ask for? Maybe…something you care about? And that doesn’t control your life? As a leader in that organization, she was enthralled with personality profiles and how they were an impacting tool in understanding a person’s strengths and weaknesses. She married that with her heart for parents and educators to know how their children are “wired” so they can support them in their strengths and interact more effectively. She founded the company, My Wired Style which offers enhanced Personality Profile packages and workshops working with aspiring entrepreneurs businesses and families. She will be leading us in our initial segment on our personalities and how to leverage our strengths and bolster our weaknesses for free agent success.
I have no corporate background. I’m the scrappy entrepreneur who knows nothing different. I grew up in a self-employed family and have started, failed and succeeded with a boatload of businesses. I’m the special agent of self-employment who has seen it all (or at least most of it!) and doesn’t pull any punches in helping make sure we help you with a viable idea. I’m your host, facilitator, and advocate at the event. My core focus is to make sure you are fully tuned in and getting served. I’m also the barista and sommelier. You can read more about me on the About page, though I’m assuming you’re familiar with me…or you wouldn’t be here in the first place.
YOUR EVENT GUARANTEE
There is a fee for the event, of course, and it comes with a money-back guarantee. No joke, no gimmick. The event will end, and you will return home. If you do not feel you got value out of the event relative to the attendance fee, you have a week to tell us what it was worth to you. We’ll refund the difference. That’s it, as literal as can be. This is the guarantee I wish all businesses would have…put their money where their mouths are. It’s what we’ll counsel you to do in your business.
*Additional Spouse Guarantee - First, I’d wish you would bring your spouse. Having them onboard …which involves you being onboard with them…is key. But whether your spouse attends or not, I fully understand that attending something like this can often be a point of contention with a spouse. So the spouse guarantee is the same as listed above…but for them. If after returning, your spouse does not feel it was worth the investment…same thing. Name what it was worth, we’ll refund the difference. I would ask that for this guarantee to be valid, you watch this video I did with my wife Teri (who will be at the event) on “Marital Unity & The Pursuit of Free Agency” before you register. If you are married, this will help cover some of the common issues.
YOUR EVENT SCHWAG
A tradition for our Intensive events is the ceremonial giving away of a Saddleback Leather bag. Dave Munson, owner of Saddleback, is a rock star free agent. He’s built a successful business out of passion, integrity and a servant’s heart. Our very own Chuck Bowen is a kingpin in Dave’s compan, and they co-own TrueBlue Production Studios in Mexico.
That’s not all. A new tradition has started in the past two events with custom Fern Canyon soap from member Brett Traudt. And, of course, the infamous home roasted coffee. Everyone walks away with a treat, ’cause schwagg rules.

YOUR EVENT LODGING
There is limited lodging at the camp and, historically, 99% of our attendees stay on site. It’s cozy, mountain rustic, cheaper than a hotel…and right with us so you can talk till late and walk with us early. Part of being a start-up free agent is making some luxury sacrifices. Thus, it’s not a four-star hotel. But it’s nice and cozy and very…Rocky Mountain style. If you come with your spouse, you get a room to yourselves; otherwise, you’ll be sharing a room. If you are a light sleeper, bring a little fan for your room or grab some ear plugs. If you want a room to yourself, a 7-mile drive into Woodland Park will bring you to the Woodland Country Lodge which is a nice hotel with rooms at $80 per night: Website http://www.woodlandcountrylodge.com
Summit & Northwood Lodge Bunks
These are nice, all natural wood rooms with three aspen log bunks and a private bathroom in each room. 3 people per room maximum.
Camping and RV
If you’d like this option, email us, and we’ll give you details on securing a pad with all hookups.
